  1. Add some sparkle to your work! Why not join me for a class in shisha mirror work in Winchester?

For this one day class, I will teach you the basics of applying shisha mirrors alongside some simple stitches to create an Indian inspired design. Why not make one of these funky little elephants?

Shisha shirt   Shisha elephant   Shisha mirror sample

Where and when: Saturday 18th June, Friends Meeting house, Winchester

For more details and to book visit www.embroiderynow.co.uk

  2. While searching through my embroidery boxes for a particular embroidery sample I came across my first ever piece of embroidery! I don't know how old I was when I did this but I'm guessing I must have been about seven. The stitching is actually quite neat although the colours are...interesting!

First piece   First piece    First piece 3

  3. Managed a trip to the Asian Art Museum during my visit to San Francisco this year. What a great museum, just the right size to have a wander through all the galleries without getting 'museumitus' (you know, when your legs ache and you can't possibly take in one more beautiful object)!

    Some highlights for me were:

Wicker Buddha   Ivory carving    Jade carving

Wicker Buddha; Ivory Tusk carving; Jade Buddha

And there was some great embroidery too!

Korean embroidered wrapping cloth     Silk Kimono     Woman

Korean wrapping cloth; Silk kimono; womens clothing from SE Asia

If you can't visit personally, check out the collection on their website: Asian Art Museum
